Samuel Clarke, a blacksmith of the parish of Bolton, guilty of breaking into the shop of Job Wilson of Cockermouth at about midnight on 24th November 1745 and stealing various items of cloth.  Valentine Clarke, who was reprieved, was said to be a whitesmith.
